Making Democracy Work

Yes on Issue 1

Thank You For Passing Issue 1

Thanks to supporters like you, Ohio voters backed the state's bi-partisan reform to draw legislative districts in the November 3 election and Issue 1 passed. By sharing the message to Vote Yes on Issue 1, you helped it to pass with 70 percent of the vote, according to the final, unofficial results.

LWV Ohio and the Fair Districts = Fair Elections Coalition issued this press release after the results.

Your support helped to end gerrymandering in Ohio legislative districts -- but next year, it could help to end it in the state's congressional districts. Sens. Frank LaRose, R-Copley, and Tom Sawyer, D-Akron, proposed a congressional redistricting plan, similar to the recently approved process for legislative districts and it could be on November 2016's ballot.

Thanks, again, for Making Democracy Work®!

We endorse Issue 1

The League of Women Voters of Ohio Board supports State Issue 1 in the 2015 General Election. The League of Women Voters has advocated redistricting reform in Ohio for the last 40 years. Voters amended Ohio's Constitution by approving Issue 1 on November 3 and ended manipulation of state legislative map-making with no transparency and no accountability.
